Your stress test resultsIf you clicked more than three in any area then you need to look at your stress levels. We have provided some insights for stress relief in the three areas below: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Physical - You checked mostly physical responses to stress - there are many ways you can turnaround stress and become more resourceful. In particular breathe awareness, meditation, and monitoring your thoughts. In addition you might like to develop exercise more in your life such as yoga, walking, gardening. Essentially any exercise that enables you to connect. Top tip - Next time you are feel 'high' physical systems of stress give yourself time to relax, breathe more deeply or even excuse yourself to take a short rest break. We know this can be challenging if you are at work, or at Home | with kids but we all need some private time to let the nervous system regenerate. Behavioural - Let's not pretend that stress is always easy to handle it is not. When stress is affecting you emotionally you can start using behaviours which don't support you like drinking too much or relying on smoking or different forms of drugs to relax you. You may find yourself irritable and angry or frustrated and tired. It is important to find ways to reduce both your emotional feelings and the physiological arousal that stress causes. As you know we can't get rid of, or avoid, the things or the people that stress us, nor can we change them, but we can learn to control your reactions. Top tips - talk to friends to let off steam. It's best to find out what it is that triggers your stress and then to develop strategies to keep those triggers from tipping you over the edge. Start recording what triggers your stress 'knowledge is power'. Think of ways to change your response. E.g. instead of reaching for a cigarette have a glass of water. Meditation, creative visualization, breathe awareness, coaching and NLP are all excellent tools to help you change your thinking and release emotional tension. Psychological - Perhaps you are finding life overwhelming and mental stress is beginning to have a negative impact on areas of your life. Stress effects the psychology of a person a lot. If you feel overwhelmed by a situation or problem it can gradually change in to stress. We are suffering from psychological stress when we lose interest in our day to day activities or we are not able to concentrate on one thing or maybe you want to give up on your job, life, family, friends, spouse as it seems to be the only thing that we can do to take the tension out of our problems. With psychological stress we can lose the power of discrimination. Our mind stops working correctly and we are not able to decide what is good and what is bad for us. It can lead do deep anxiety and depression. Top tips - We are an anxious nation in fact, we are an anxious world. There is no question that uncertainty seems to have increased dramatically in the last few years. Our mental health is very much in our control we can begin to see the positives in our life. The power of our thoughts is amazing so having a mental makeover is must. Get connected to your thinking and make sure your thoughts are supporting
you. Take time to look out in vast open spaces such as meadows or
beaches and simply enjoy nature. Meditation is a mental holiday you
